About the Event

When Eunju Kim left North Korea at the age of 12, she was doing it to survive.


"When I first arrived in South Korea, I had nothing to offer - before I realised I could share my story."


For Eunju Kim, sharing her personal story of hardship and escape became both a way of rebuilding her own life and a way of helping others understand a reality few of us will ever experience.


At The Gallery, Eunju will share her journey from North Korea, the challenges of starting over, and why she continues to speak publicly about experiences many would prefer to leave behind.


What began as a personal journey became a book (A Thousand Miles to Freedom - My Escape from North Korea), a platform (HANVOICE), and ultimately a way to create change.


Today, Eunju works to raise awareness of human rights in North Korea. At the talk she…
